No racing here

Well it's been awhile. Been doing the facebook thing. That is so much easier to keep up with. I've been rehabing from a neck issue so it has kept me off the bike for way to long. I have missed the last two WORS races and just was able to start riding my bike again today. Things have been busy getting ready for the baby coming in July. Now I have to start training for the rest of the season. Also I start working next week so this will be interesting.

I did my first Collegiate road race of the year last weekend down at Murray State in Kentucky. It went pretty well. It took me about 3 miles to warm up then I was feeling pretty good. We had three 16 mile laps (48mi). Lap one was pretty clam. Lap 2 there was a pretty intense attack on a painfull climb. This blew the pelaton in half. I was able to answer and stay in the main group. A few miles later Indiana University put in an attack and about five riders got out front before the rest of there riders put in a block of the field. I sat in the main pelaton for lap 3 and they put in another attack on the same hill blowing the field even more. I answered and made it over the top with the group that was left but slowly started to fade and ended up off the back in no mans land for the last few miles. There were riders scattered. I was pretty happy with my overall race seeing I have only about 10 hours of riding in so far. I hadn't even done a training ride over 30 miles yet. The weather was rain/snow and about 33 degree's. It was nice to get that over. Above is my new bike that I just finished building up. Full black naked carbon. To bad i didn't have it for Kentucky.

Collegiate

12 Days till race day. It should be interesting seeing as I have been on my bike 4 times this year so far. Nothing like starting with a good 48 mile road race then a 45 min crit the next day. You never know it could turn out good. New UW Sheboygan Jersey's due to be here the 26th.

Spring Please

Ok it's time for the weather to get better. The older I get the more I hate living in this climate. The running is going good and I'm going to have to start riding the trainer by weeks end. Hopefully I can work in both workouts in a day. School is in full swing and more of my time is going to have to go to studies. One month till Collegiate race #1. New news to some of you is Michelle & I are expecting our first child July 18th. That gives me another reason to get in shape early in the year so that when the baby comes I can take some time off. The baby won't hold us down though. You will see us at the races after the baby is born.

Its Official

Its official I have decided to not resign with Gear Grinder for the 2009 racing season. I want to thank Gear Grinder for there support over the last few years but it was time for me to go back to the Alterra Coffee Racing Team for many reasons. I look forward to representing Alterra Coffee on the awards podium in the 2009 season.
